FTP / WebDAV Server

The webDAV solution seems appealing to me, as it would be easy to reach through the remote standard file browsers. It seems to me as the most easy way to get the images, once properly configured.

I am testing a bit what would be possible. WebDav is not exactly easy to implement. FTP would already work now (okay, moreless; you can try it by connecting with your favourite ftp client to skygems-observatories.com using your email as username, and your password).

I agree that WebDav would be a neat solution. Let me dig further to see what I can arrange.

Just tested the FTP connection, I logged in successfully with my FileZilla client, although my folder seems to be empty, which I suppose is normal. When you have the time to populate it I'll do some more tests , but it seems to me to be an acceptable solution.

yes, the data is currently not there. I found out that under Windows one can mount an ftp server directory exactly as a WebDav folder; so that should basically work with ftp now. Feel free to test it a bit. I will at some point copy over the data and then we'll see 🙂

I'd be interested to know if you are carrying on with your plan to copy the data to the FTP server. I think it would be a very convenient, easy to use, feature.

Long time on this... I think I found a viable way to offer a convenient data access solution.
I am currently evaluating it. If you feel inspired to test it, connect via FTP to
IP: files.skygems-observatories.com
Port: 8080

User and Password: The same credentials you are using on the site skygems-observatories.com (not the forum credentials!).

I would be very interested in the feedback. We tested it also via SFTP but had a performance drop which made it unusable. We could also activate WebDav if anyone prefers that (also in parallel). I will try to make some benchmark with the WebDav before, though 🙂

We are now transiting all systems to use the new FTP and WebDav interface. The Google Drive that we used until now will be phased out and only used for the calibration data in the future.

Also, it is now possible to download the files from the web frontend
