Vignetting with the Hakos H8

Hello!
I've recently spent a few credits to try out the new ASA H8 telescope installed in Namibia. The frames look very nice, except for the fact that something happened with the flat frames and the light frames got a pretty bad vignetting. The image below is a combined RGB image with 2x120s per channel.
The images were shot on April 13th, so right after the telescope was installed, and I suspect that maybe the calibration frames were still being tested. I've already checked the calibration FTP server but I couldn't find any flats shot for this new telescope.

Hi Nicolas,

The vignetting is normal regarding the frames were not calibrated with flats. Let's wait for the calibration files.

But what I really concern is the aberration.

There is still enorme space to improve the performance and I think Lukas and his team can reveal the true power of a ASA H8.

Sorry guys for not getting back to you. Have been very busy days here inNamibia. The ASA H8 was a though nut to crack, but now it delivers very nice pictures. 🙂
Let me sleep and tomorrow I will post some examples. It also looks like we will need to disable auto calibration for this system, in bin 1x1 MaximDl crashes quite often due to the high memory usage...

So Here One of the status before collimation.

And Here how It turned out. Images are bin 1x1(!!) and It has taken its toll from me... Very rough nights 😅

WOW it looks awesome!

Lukas I have another question of the H8. In the imaging creation page, the PA of H8 is -181º but in fact it delivers images with 90º PA. Please correct this bug.

Yeah the corners are looking pretty nice now! Collimating such a big and fast telescope it's definitely not an easy task. The frames I got were also shot before the collimation as you can see.

If there is any way to re-shoot my light frames or at least to have access to calibration frames compatible with the lights I have now, I would be very grateful.

Best would be to create a new request for the data, and let me know the RID of the One with the tilted data so i can refund it

The one with the tilted data was the same one with the vignetting. The RID of the request is 7471.

fernandoyang Thanks Fernando, just been corrected.

I might need to optimize teh autofocus timing of the H8 maybe with limiting to darker stars. But still pretty good reults can be expected overall.

Also remember that we are currently shooting new flats both for the iDK20 (cleaned mirrors...) as well as the AA 🙂
