Upcoming changes for 2022

Hello everybody,

well, it has been an intense year so far for us. Among some planned (and unplanned) upgrades, our new CDK500 is being tested in Spain - finally! 😀

We are, however, already planning for the coming year. The most exciting news are related to a new dome that we will get in Namibia - and we will move our 20" iDK there on a new Planewave mount.
"What will you do with the ASA mount there?", one might ask. Well, we will get a new astrograph for that. 450mm diameter, f4.0, with a new Moravian IMX455 camera on it. Also, we will add a Canon lens with camera for extreme widefield imaging (probabily with a One Shot Color Chip). So, in Namibia, we would end up with these FOV's:

Potentially, we might upgrade the camera of the 20" in Namibia and/or Spain, but this needs to be tested before. Let's see 🙂

Small additions:

the new TI450 f 4.0 system will arrive later than predicted... ETA now august 2022
the iDK will be moved into the dome towards end of april 2022
a new RC (360mm from Officina Stellare, with photometrci filters) will arrive in the next weeks
The Veloce will be exchanged with an ASA H8 f 2.8 hyperbolic astrograph
We will get an FSQ106 system, too 🙂

What camera system will you choose to pair with it?

fernandoyang WIll be a Moravian C3-61000 - Basically an IMX455 camera with shutter, so same pixel size as the QHY600.

Small update, the RC360 - which will be a system hosted with us and where the owner will basically share it with us - will be installed at the beginning of April 2022. Tests so far ran smoothly, and we do expect to get a very nice photometric system.

Hi guys,

it has been a very long rainy season in Namibia - longer than usual 🙂
Anyway, just wanted to update on what's upcoming: The RC360 is on site as is the ASA Hypergraph, and we expect to have both systems up at the beginning of April.

The FSQ106 system will go online towards beginning of may 2022 (also in Namibia).

And: There might be a new system joining us on the northern hemisphere in a completely different time zone 🙂 stay tuned
