Where are flats?

Just signed up, hope this is the right way to get support.

Just as a test I asked for 1 sub each of R, G, B on a target last night, bin 1, from the Dreamscope. Had them waiting this morning, very nice.

I found darks and bias, but I do not see where to get flats. The files.skygems-observatories.com site has a flat folder, but they seem all over the place from random times and temps. Mine were bin 1 at -25C. I do see 5 flats each from 7/5 but they are all "no cooling" (which I can use and may be fine for flats I guess but not ideal, plus 5 seems few). There are a bunch of older blue ones -- lots of them -- but only blue.

Are the no-cooling what I am expected to use?

Was there a place I was supposed to request flats?

And finally if there's a more appropriate way to ask for help, please point me there.

I guess on a related note I didn't get the Ha I had scheduled, is there a place to look to find out why? (And I don't see any Ha flats at all in the flats folder -- I assume it has Ha, the list says so, it allowed me to schedule. How does one find out why something didn't go?

Hi @Linwood ,

thanks for your message. So, first of all, the "NoCooling" is mostly to be disregarded, just use the CCDTEMP header in the fits. We always use cooling, but Voyager only sets that part of the filename if it has an explicit temperature to take the calibration data (we simply set the temperature at the beginning).

If you miss some flats - which does happen, even if we try our best to get them all ready and freshed up from time to time - just drop us a mail or use the "Report issue" button of the scope, which would send a message directly to the scope owner 🙂

Thank you, though those flat's fits header say SET-TEMP=25 and CCD-TEMP=25 (no minus sign). Not that cooling should make a huge difference, though this is CCD not CMOS so it may make some. If it becomes an issue I will submit as "issue", though these were just test images and are so bad I do not expect to use that OTA again. Thank you for the quick response!

Huh, well if its 25 (and not -25) I would say it's no good 🙂
Let me have a look at this, shall be easy enough to fix 🙂

Alright we changed a little the configuration, now the system will make sure the camera is at -25°C before imaging 🙂
I am going through the remaining systems to make sure the setting is the same there as well
